Solignac scores fastest goal in franchise history in Locomotive’s 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley

EL PASO, Texas - It was rather dry 90 minutes of soccer Saturday night at Southwest University Park. Fortunately for Locomotive FC, the opening 30 seconds provided all the fireworks needed for Mark Lowry and company as Luis Solignac's opening minute goal off a botched RGV communication gave Locomotive their first victory of the 2021 season by a score of 1-0.

Rio Grande Valley came into Saturday night's match unbeaten in three matches, but completely mishandled the opening minute against Locomotive after a pass back to goalkeeper Tyler Deric was intercepted by Solignac and put in the net for an El Paso goal.

The rest of the match featured just two combined shots on target, one from each team, as El Paso content to possess the ball with the lead.

It was a clean sheet for new Locomotive goalkeeper Adrian Zendejas, fresh off loan from MLS side Minnesota United after joining the team earlier this week.

Zendejas will be the new Locomotive goalkeeper moving forward, with season opening starter Logan Ketterer continuing an impressive run with the Portland Timbers.

Ketterer earned his second clean sheet in as many MLS games Saturday in a 3-0 home victory of LA Galaxy at Providence Park in Portland.

Locomotive FC hit the road next week for their first away match, taking on Eastern Conference side Sporting Kansas City II in a USL crossover match on May 30th.
