EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso Locomotive FC has named John Hutchinson as the new head coach and technical director. The announcement was made Thursday via zoom.
Hutchinson brings with him 25 years of professional experience as a player and serving on coaching staffs across seven leagues. MountainStar Sports Group President Alan Ledford said they were looking for many of the same qualities in a new coach as when they searched for former coach Mark Lowry.
"We wanted someone who was progressive in their way of thinking," Ledford said. Hutchinson, 41, is an Australian native currently spending the holidays down under.
“I’m very happy to be named head coach for El Paso Locomotive,” said Hutchinson.
“I am really grateful for the ownership to place their faith in me, and I know that everyone associated with the club wants to win games and silverware and I am no different.”
After the holidays, Hutchinson will arrive in El Paso accompanied by his wife, Kate, and two children, Kai (12) and Mahli (7).
El Paso Locomotive FC's fourth campaign in the USL Championship begins March 2022.
