High school baseball & softball playoff scores: Americas softball team headed to sweet 16; Riverside secures area title

EL PASO, Texas - It was a good day to be a Trail Blazer and Ranger on Friday.

The Americas softball team is headed to the sweet 16 of the 6A state playoffs after defeating Midland High School in the best-of-three series.

This will be the first time Americas is headed to the sweet 16 of the softball state playoffs since 2012.

Meantime, the Riverside baseball team secured the area round title after sweeping Lubbock Estacado.

Americas 2 Midland 5 - Game 2 final - Midland evened series (1-1) to force a winner-take-all game three

Americas 4 Midland 0 - Game 3 final - Americas wins series (2-1) to advance to the sweet 16

CLASS 6A BASEBALL PLAYOFFS (AREA ROUND)

Pebble Hills 5 Keller 8 - Game 1 final - Keller leads best-of-three series (1-0)

Americas 0 South Lake Carroll 8 - Final - South Lake Carroll advances in after winning the single elimination game

CLASS 5A BASEBALL PLAYOFFS (AREA ROUND)

Del Valle 1 Lubbock Coronado 0 - Game 1 final - Del Valle leads best-of-three series (1-0)

Ysleta 1 Lubbock 9 - Game 1 final - Lubbock leads best-of-three series (1-0)
