Americas softball are blazing a trail right now that could take them all the way to the final four and beyond

EL PASO, Texas -- Americas softball is on the brink of becoming the second ever El Paso softball team to make it to the final four.

"We knew at the beginning of the season we wanted to go really far," Sydney Saenz Americas center fielder said. "We knew that we had potential and that's obviously shown in the last couple of weeks."

The trail blazers hit the road Wednesday in preparation for their Elite 8 clash against Flower Mound Marcus at 6.30 p.m. MT at Frenship High School just outside of Lubbock.

The second game will be Friday at 6.30 p.m. MT and if needed there will be a game three on Saturday at 9 a.m. MT.

No matter the outcome this week, this Americas team will always have their names in the history books - it's the programs first ever time making it to the Elite 8 and they're only the third ever El Paso team in history to make it this far.

"As a high school softball player it's always been a dream, it's always been a what if and now getting the opportunity and being so close to it on the edge of our seats for it, it's an absolutely amazing feeling we're going to play it down just a little bit so we can keep our composure and stay calm and have the most fun and make the best of it," Sabrina Carrillo Americas third base said.
