Sun Bowl Association names new president ahead of the 2022 game

EL PASO, Texas -- The Sun Bowl have got their president for the 2022 Sun Bowl in Robert Dunlop.

"I never had an idea of being president until they called me and I was like sure, why not it'll be fun," Dunlop said.

Executive Director of the Sun Bowl Bernie Olivas said Dunlop is the perfect person for the job because of the passion and dedication he has for the Sun Bowl.

"I've worked with 21 different presidents and they've all been extremely fantastic to work with because every president has always had the best interest of the Sun Bowl in mind and Robert is no different," Olivas said.

Dunlop has been an active member of the association since 2006 and in 2013 he joined the associations board of directors where he served on several committees before being asked to serve as president.

"It's an honor to be the president of the sun bowl  and I'm hoping, god forbid that this is a normal year, we've had two years in a row where it's been an abnormal year," Dunlop said.

At the same event the Sun Bowl honored Jimmy Rogers for receiving an award from the Bowl Association of America for what he has done for the Sun Bowl. Jimmy was president bak in 1970 and is single handedly responsible for the Sun Bowl being broadcast on CBS for over 50 years.
