El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2022: Chris Snead

EL PASO, Texas - The El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame not only honors athletes and coaches, but also officials who ensure the rules of the game are followed.

Chris Snead is being inducted into the hall of fame as part of the officials category.

Snead graduate from Hanks High School in 1987.

He then left for Lubbock, TX to attend Texas Tech where graduated in 1995 with a degree in English.

Snead still lives in Lubbock and is currently the Associate Vice President of the Texas Tech Alumni Association.

However, that's his full-time job, his part time job is officiating college baseball and football games.

Snead got into officiating as a way to make some extra cash, but he quickly rose up the ranks.

For the last 11 years he's officiated division one college football games.

His first two seasons, Snead was an official with Conference USA, and for the last 9 years he's served as an official in the SEC.

In 2015, Snead was a member of the officiating crew in the first ever College Football Playoff game between Florida State and Oregon at the Rose Bowl.

In 2016, Snead was named Outstanding Football Official by the National Football Foundation.

On June 22, Snead will be inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame.
