OMAHA, Nebraska - Another day, another award for El Pasoan Ivan Melendez.

Friday, Melendez was named this year's recipient of the Dick Howser Trophy.

The award is given to the best college baseball player in the country.

The former Coronado Thunderbird has just been phenomenal for the Texas Longhorns this season.

Melendez leads the nation in both home runs (32) and RBIs (94).

He becomes just the fourth Longhorn to win the Howser Trophy.

Melendez is also a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, so another prestigious award could be in Melendez's future in the coming days.

However, that's probably the last thing on his mind as he and the Longhorns will be looking to bounce back after losing to Notre Dame in the opening round of the College World Series, 6-3.
