Lawyer by day, table tennis player by night: Michael Gopin goes for his fourth national championship

EL PASO, Texas -- You might know Michael Gopin from his commercials on TV for his law services, he might even be your lawyer, but did you know that he is also a 3x table tennis national champion?

Gopin has competed at the last ten national tournaments and two of his three wins have come from doubles play, the other from singles and there could be more on the way.

The 2022 U.S. National Table Tennis Championships starts Sat. July, 2nd and runs to July 7th in Fort Worth. Gopin told ABC-7 there will be about 110 tables and about one-thousand players.

"I'd like to get another national championship under my belt," Gopin said. "That's my goal and I have a good chance to do some damage."

Gopin will compete in seven singles and three doubles events and four other players from his club will go to nationals with him.

Michael opened the club in 2009 and they have about 40 players. If you want to get involved they accept anyone from beginner to pro and have coaching available.
