Update: Miners beat FAU 24-21 with a walk-off Gavin Baechle field goal

EL PASO, Texas -- UTEP move to 4-4 on the season with a 24-21 win over FAU Saturday.

The Miners trailed FAU 7-6 at halftime and were down 14-6 in the third quarter. The Miners went into the 4th tied at 14 after a Gavin Hardison keeper followed by a 2-point conversion.

They then took the lead off a Hardison pass to Ysleta grad Rey Flores. The Owls tied things up on a N'Kosi Perry throw to Austin Evans for a 17-yard touchdown with 4.39 left on the clock.

The Miners then put together a game winning drive which lasted 13 plays, took all the time off the clock and went for 65 yards and ended in Gavin Baechle nailing a field goal. That was Baechles third field goal of the day and takes him to 51 career field goals with UTEP which in turn sees him break the all-time field goal record for the Miners.

Original Story:

The Miners trail FAU 7-6 at halftime, with all the points coming in the 2nd quarter.

UTEP were unable to put any points on the board in the 1st quarter which means 8 games in they have only scored 20 points in the opening quarter.

The Miners 6 points so far have come from two field goals from Gavin Baechle, the two conversions bring Baechle to 50 career field goals for the Miners which ties the school record. That was also his 14th straight field goal made.

Meanwhile FAU got their points off a Larry McCammon 32-yard rush into the endzone.

The Miners will need to start converting in the red zone if they are a chance of winning this game.
