El Paso Locomotive put the league on notice with a 1-0 win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks

EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso Locomotive make a statement to the league with a 1-0 win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.

Both teams had their fair share of chances early, the Locos though capitalized first through the head of Aaron Gomez in the 18th minute. That his sixth goal on the season.

That would be the only goal in the end as Evan Newton and his defensive line stopped 10 shots, two of which were on goal and in turn secured their eighth clean sheet of the season.

The win sees the Locos secure their 10th game in a row undefeated, they also are now just one point off third spot in the Western Conference Standings.

Next up the Locomotive will hit the road for a clash against ninth placed Oakland Roots on Saturday July, 16 at 8 p.m. MT.

The Locos will definitely be without Lucho Solignac who received a caution in the 75' and a second in the 87'. They potentially could also be without their captain Yuma who went off in the early stages of the match.
