NMSU down UTEP 2-0 in first CUSA Battle of I-10

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- For the first time in 60 years UTEP and NMSU came face-to-face on the pitch in a conference game.

This edition of the Battle of I-10 was as fierce as ever, but it was the Aggies who would leave victorious with a 2-0 dub over the Miners.

In the third minute Megan Ormson found the back of the net thanks to a Bianca Chacon assist. But that was one of just four shots from both teams in the first half.

The Aggies went into the half up 1-0 and would add to it in the 72nd minute off an absolute stunner from Tati Jerman to the bottom left corner.

The Miners ended the 90 minutes with three shots and two shots on goal but really struggled to get anything going on offense in the second half. While the Aggies had a total of seven shots and 3 on goal.

UTEP now fall to 1-9-1 on the season and 0-2-0 in conference play. They now prepare to play at LA Tech on Sunday at 12 p.m. MT.

NMSU are 5-5-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play and will host MTSU on Sunday at 6 p.m. MT.
