Aggies secure first home win with 51-14 victory over Mercyhurst

The NMSU Aggies took on Mercyhurst looking to defend home turf at Aggie memorial stadium. New Mexico state came out of the gates firing against the lakers.

The very first play from scrimmage, Nick Session jumps the route, picks it off, fights through traffic and leaps right into the end zone for the aggies’ first touchdown.

NMSU quickly up 7-0. Mercyhurst answers, but quarterback Trey Hedden responds with a dime to TK King to tie the game.

Later in the same drive, TJ Washington Junior punches it in from 16 yards out. The extra point is blocked, making it 13-7 aggies.

Mercyhurst retakes the lead in the second quarter, as Alex Gevaudan finds Camden Lewis from 14 yards out.

NMSU answers with a field goal to go up 16-14, then James Jones breaks loose for a 46-yard touchdown run.

The Aggies take a 23-14 lead into halftime.

The momentum didn't stop there the Aggies kept it rolling through the 4th quarter and solidified their first win at home of the season.

FINAL : 51 - 14 win for the Aggies.
