UNC Charlotte unveils new pickax logo that looks similar to UTEP

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Another school playing in Conference USA alongside the UTEP Miners has unveiled a new athletic logo that some say is a copycat.

The UNC Charlotte 49ers are utilizing a pickax that looks similar to UTEP's pick, except Charlotte's is turned onto its’ side.

The problem for UTEP, according to 600 ESPN El Paso, is that the Miners don't have their pickax design copyrighted to prevent others from using it.

UNC Charlotte's website says their 49er nickname is a tribute to the miners of the gold rush era.
