The Miners are coming off a strong 17-8 season, including a 9-2 mark at home, to secure the third winning season in four years under head coach Kevin Baker.

He’s the first coach in program history to achieve the feat. UTEP will enter the 2021-22 campaign with four returning starters and six letter winners overall back in the fold.

There will also be numerous newcomers in the mix, including several Division I transfers. It’s a team that fans should be able to get behind, with El Pasoan and 2021 All C-USA first-team honoree Katia Gallegos leading the charge.

“Our basketball team just finished an amazing season and competed at a very high level,” Baker said. “I can only imagine how well our team might have played with our awesome fan base in attendance.”

UTEP advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament for the first time in five years.

The Miners are looking forward to being back on the hardwood, especially being back at the Don Haskins Center.

“We would like to welcome our fans back to the Haskins Center for what should be another great year,” Baker said. “The members of our team can’t wait to see a packed house as we compete for a Conference USA championship.  Our awesome fan base gives our team energy, maximizes our intensity, and pushes us to excel. We need you!  We are so excited to see each chair filled and welcome our opponents to a very loud crowd.”
