UTEP’s Dana Dimel previews upcoming home opener against Bethune Cookman

EL PASO, Texas - ABC-7 is the official home of the UTEP Miners, and every week the ABC-7 sports department goes one-on-one with UTEP football head coach Dana Dimel.

This week coach Dimel previews the team's upcoming game against Bethune Cookman.

It will be UTEP's first home game of the 2021 season.

The Miners are riding some momentum after starting their season with a victory against New Mexico State in the Battle of I-10.

It was a dominate performance for the Miners as they kept the Aggies out of the endzone the entire game.

The final score was 30-3.

UTEP will once again be the favorite in Saturday's game against the Bethune Cookman Wildcats, Miners are favored to win by 18 points.

There's no excuse for the Miners not to pick up the victory against an FCS program like Bethune Cookman.

The Wildcats haven't played a football game since 2019, so it's a team that will be knocking off some of the rust.

If UTEP is victorious Saturday, it will be the first time the Miners start the season 2-0 since 2005.

UTEP will take on Bethune Cookman Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Sun Bowl.

Tickets are available now.
