C-USA names UTEP women’s 4×100 team (Track) & Morais (Field) Athletes of the Week

DALLAS, Texas - UTEP’s women’s 4x100-meter relay team and Arianne Morais (javelin) were honored as the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week as announced by league officials on Tuesday.

All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

For the first time in C-USA history, a women’s relay team were named track athletes of the week.

The 4x100 squad composed of Zani Meaders, Niesha Burgher, Denae McFarlane, and Oghenekaro Brume clocked in a 44.05, the second-best time in program history.

Their time ranks first in C-USA, 16th nationally and ninth in the West region. The previous best was 44.31.

C-USA leader Morais tossed 53.82 meters (176-7), placing second in the javelin.

She’s fourth nationally and leads the conference with a 57.38m (188-3).

It’s Morais’s second honor this season after being named field athlete of the week on April 18.
