Man struck, killed by dump truck in far east El Paso

EL PASO, Texas -- A man was struck and killed by a dump truck on Monday in far east El Paso, sheriff's deputies said.

The deadly incident happened about 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Rojas Drive and Eastlake Boulevard.

Investigators described the man as a pedestrian, but didn't indicate if he was crossing the intersection at the time he was struck. There was also no word on whether the dump truck driver might face any charges.

After being hit, the man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died a short time later. His identity has not been released.
