Motorcyclist dies from injuries in far east El Paso crash last month

UPDATE, July 2: Police said 42–year old Angel Holguin has died from his injuries in last month's crash of his motorcycle at Zaragoza Road and Rich Beem Boulevard in far east El Paso.

Investigators said he lost control and struck a curb, ejecting both Holguin and his girlfriend. He suffered a serious head injury in the crash, she suffered lessor injuries.

Neither was wearing a helmet, police said, also citing speed and alcohol as factors in crash.

Holguin's death was the 42nd traffic fatality of the year in El Paso compared to 32 at the same time last year.

ORIGINAL REPORT, June 14: EL PASO, Texas -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured early Sunday in a far east El Paso crash, police said.

It was reported by police around 3:30 a.m. at Zaragoza Road and Rich Beem Boulevard.

Investigators said the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash, but they did not elaborate.

The motorcycle rider was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries from the crash, officers said.

No further details were immediately available.
