Police describe car sought in hit & run that killed Socorro bicyclist

UPDATE: Socorro police have now released a description of the car being sought for a deadly hit-and-run earlier this month that killed 48-year-old bicyclist Armando Perez.

Police said Friday they are searching for a dark grey 1994-2004 Ford Mustang convertible with paper tags, with a possible shattered window, and damage to the front right side of the car.

ORIGINAL REPORT, Oct. 1: SOCORRO, Texas -- A bicyclist died at a hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Socorro on Thursday night, and police were searching for that motorist who fled the scene.

Police on Friday identified the deceased victim as 48-year-old Armando Perez.

Investigators said he was struck about 7:20 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Valle Suave & N. Moon Road and indicated that the fleeing vehicle likely has significant front-end damage.

Authorities issued an urgent public call for any witnesses to the incident or others who may be able to identify the vehicle and its driver to contact Socorro police at (915) 858-6983.
