76-year-old El Paso man identified as victim of deadly I-10 crash

UPDATE, Aug. 16: El Paso police on Monday identified the victim of a deadly crash along I-10 at Sunland Park on Friday afternoon.
76 –year-old Jose Luis Oliva died at a local hospital from injuries he suffered in the crash.
Investigators said Olivia's car collided with another vehicle as both drivers changed into the same lane simultaneously; after the crash, police indicated that Oliva's car then ran into a concrete highway barrier.
Olivia's death was the 42nd El Paso traffic fatality so far this year.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Aug. 13: EL PASO, Texas -- A two-vehicle along Interstate 10 in west El Paso turned deadly Friday afternoon, prompting police to shut down a stretch of the highway to investigate.
The crash, which happened during the noon hour, occurred along I-10 Eastbound between Buena Vista and Executive and backed up traffic due to lane closures.
Authorities indicated a severely injured crash victim later died at a nearby hospital.
As a result, police said at 4 p.m. that they had completely shut down I-10 East from Sunland Park to Executive as investigators sought to determine what caused the fatal wreck. Motorists were advised to take a different route.
As of 5 p.m., police tweeted that the closure would continue until further notice.
