Baby giraffe is born with disorder that caused legs to bend the wrong way
A 3-month-old giraffe at the San Diego Zoo can finally walk thanks to some dedicated doctors and a pair of leg braces.
Msituni was born with a rare disorder that caused her legs to bend the wrong way. She couldn't walk or even stand before this. The orthotic braces she received were specially fitted for her legs.
The zoo actually brought in a human bone specialist to treat Msituni and make the braces. He says this was his first time working with an animal.
This story has a happy ending. Msituni's legs have healed and she no longer needs the braces to run and live with her family at the zoo.
