ABC-7 obtains video showing husband of El Paso City representative using taxpayer-funded gas card

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 obtained new surveillance footage that was used as part of the investigation into the potential misuse of taxpayer-funded gas cards. The surveillance video is from Feb. 10, 2023.

In the video, you can see a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck pull up to a gas station on Alameda.

After parking near a pumping station, a man proceeds to fill up the gas tank.

A source close to the investigation told ABC-7 the person pumped more than 17.1 gallons of premium gasoline into the truck.

A source close to the investigation positively identified the man in the video as the husband of City Representative Cassandra Hernandez. The source also said that Hernandez's city-issued gas card was used to pay for the gas at the same time and place the video was taken.

The EPPD report identifies the trucks as registered to Hernandez's husband. It also lists a different vehicle under Hernandez's name.
