ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Hot Saturday evening ahead and chances for isolated overnight storms

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Borderland is staying hot this Saturday evening, with temperatures in the lower to mid 90s across El Paso and Las Cruces. While that is a little cooler than some of the triple-digit heat we've experienced this summer, it will still feel plenty warm for anyone spending the evening outdoors.

In El Paso, temperatures tracking to remain around the low 90s this evening, with mostly dry conditions expected as the Karol G concert gets underway at Sun Bowl Stadium. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the forecast calls for temperatures around the low 90s at that time.

For those heading to the Karol G concert, the biggest weather concern tonight will be the heat rather than widespread rain. Bring plenty of water, take breaks when possible, and remember that stadium surfaces and large crowds can make an already-warm evening feel even hotter.

Storm chances overnight will favor areas east of the Rio Grande Valley, including the Sacramento Mountains, where scattered thunderstorms are possible. Stronger storms could also produce gusty outflow winds over 30 mph before activity gradually diminishes through the overnight hours.

Looking ahead, Sunday looks to be very similar across the immediate Borderland, with another mostly dry day in El Paso and Las Cruces and highs again in the mid-90s. Storm chances looking to be more focused over the mountains and western New Mexico, while low-end rain chances continue into next week.
