ABC-7 First Alert Continues – More Storms Likely; Heavy Rain in Spots

An active and moist weather pattern will continue across the El Paso area through the end of the week.

This evening and tonight: Storm activity will initially be confined mainly to the mountains, but coverage will increase toward 6 PM as a complex of thunderstorms moves northward from Mexico. The main threat will be across the Rio Grande Valley, where areas received significant rainfall last night. Additional heavy rain could lead to localized flooding, and the ongoing Flash Flood Watch remains in effect.

Friday: Weather dynamics will move into northern New Mexico Friday afternoon. Additional thunderstorms are possible Friday evening, although the focus should shift primarily east of the Rio Grande.

Saturday: Another disturbance will move through the region during the afternoon, with the greatest storm activity expected near the eastern portion of the area. El Paso may see more limited thunderstorm coverage.

Sunday and Monday: High pressure will build in behind the trough, bringing fair, warmer, and generally dry weather. No significant precipitation is expected across the area.
