Giant sinkhole opens up on east El Paso roadway after heavy rain
EL PASO, Texas -- A giant sinkhole, big enough to swallow a car, opened up in a section of east El Paso known for flooding on Tuesday afternoon.
The sinkhole occurred at Sam Snead and Orville Moody Lane, about a block off of Lee Trevino.
Police shut off the area to traffic after the sinkhole appeared about 3 p.m. following an afternoon of heavy rain in the region.
City crews were working to fix the roadway, but there was no immediate word on how long that could take.
