The mannequin going farther than any astronaut

NASA will once again try to make history attempting to launch Artemis I on Saturday.

The first Artemis I mission is an unmanned test flight. Some pretty high-tech test-dummies are taking the first ride on NASA's new 'Space Launch System' rocket.

Meet commander Moonikin Campos, he'll helm the Orion Space Craft around the moon. Campos will wear an Orion Crew Survival System suit, that will collect data on what future human crews might experience.

The suit has been designed for Artemis astronauts to wear during launch and reentry, and it is outfitted with two radiation sensors. It's designed to keep them alive for six full days in an emergency.

Two additional mannequins will join him on the journey. They are made of materials that mimic the human body. One modeled after a woman which will give scientists a better idea of how radiation impacts the female body. The other will be wearing a special radiation protection vest to see if it can protect astronauts from solar storms.
