Dozens of migrants released downtown due to lack of space at shelters

EL PASO, Texas -- Dozens of migrants were released at the Greyhound bus station in Downtown El Paso due to shelters being at capacity.

Many of them are camping out at the Greyhound bus station with no food, water, money, phone, or change of clothes.

Others are seen walking around downtown. Children are part of the group of migrants released.

Officials have not said the exact amount of migrants released or if this is the only group expected to be released.

"The people on the street is a call for churches here in El Paso to open up to receive refugees so that we don't have to see people on the street. If the capacity to receive people is not increased we're going to see more people released in the street," said Ruben Garcia, the executive director of Annunciation House.

ABC-7 has reached out to county officials to learn more about the efforts to find to house the migrants, but have not heard back at this time.
