PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron is promising that the situation in the country’s gas stations will soon be back to “normal.” The government has started requisitioning some workers at ExxonMobil’s Esso gas stations amid a strike that is making life difficult for French drivers. Macron stressed that the situation has been prompted by salary talks in two companies, Exxon and Total, which have made large profits from high oil and gas prices recently. French Prime Minister Elizabeth Borne on Wednesday asked prefects to launch the requisition procedure for Esso’s gas stations and may make a similar decision soon regarding Total facilities depending on the outcome of salary negotiations.
