Two-vehicle crash in West El Paso sends four people to the hospital

Update: DPS Troopers tried to stop a white Dodge Ram driving on Artcraft after it allegedly violated several traffic laws. The driver tried to get away, ran a red light at the intersection of South Desert Boulevard and Redd Road, and hit the side of another car. Both cars slammed into a nearby traffic light. This is according to DPS officials.

The driver of the Ram tried to run away, but troopers tracked him down and arrested him. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two migrants were inside the Ram. Both were treated for minor injuries. The driver of the other car also suffered minor injuries.

DPS Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents took the driver of the Ram into custody, booked him into the El Paso County Jail, and charged him with Smuggling of Persons and Evading Arrest. Officials transferred the migrants into Border Patrol custody. The investigation is still ongoing.

The crash happened at the intersection of South Desert Blvd. and Redd Rd.

One person sustained serious injuries. Four others with minor injuries.

The scene has been turned over to Texas Department of Public Safety.
