City Takes The Stand In ASARCO Hearing

EL PASO, TX. – Afteraweek’s testimony from severalASARCO experts, the City of El Paso presented its case against the copper smelter.

First on the stand for the city was Jennifer Geran, the city’s Air Modeling Expert. Attorney Taylor Moore, who represents three women from Anapra (NM)questioned Ms. Geran about the state’s jurisdiction when it comes to pollution in New Mexico and Juarez.

Mr. Moore asked, “Is it your understanding that the health and safety code definition of pollution takes into account places outside the State of Texas?” To which Ms. Geran answered: “yes.”

Additionally, three new motions to dismiss the entire hearing were brought on by opposition to ASARCO and all three were denied. The hearing continues through the end of the week.
