Interstate Paralized By Tractor-Trailer Roll Over

EL PASO, TX. – The main artery through El Paso was paralyzed for miles in each direction as a semi-truck overturned just before 3pm Friday afternoon.

The single-truck accident occurred at I-10 East at McRae, as the truck apparently jackknifed and blocked all lanes of east-bound traffic. The crash spilled diesel fuel over two lanes of the freeway, as well as the passing lane on the west-bound lanes.

Police diverted east-bound traffic onto the Gateway, but that did not stop the traffic from backing up for at least four to five miles in each direction.

Haz-mat units weredispatched to the scene to clean up the diesel fuel spill, while EPFD and EPPD crews swept up the sand and routed traffic around the wreck.
