City Rep Accuses City Manager Of ‘Insubordination’

EL PASO, TX. – Infighting breaks out between City Manger Joyce Wilson and City Councilman Alexandro Lozano.

Outspoken City Rep Lozanoverbally attacked Ms. Wilson during a Wednesday morning news conference, stopping just short of calling for her resignation.

Representative Lozano’s spoke for nearly an hour, telling members of the media hewas upset about a number of recent matters in City Council, including the use of eminent domain to take control of the deteriorating Fall Mansion from owner Billy Abraham.

Mr. Lozano’s other problems with Ms. Wilson and members of council that vote against him regularly, which he affectionately calls the “Council of Five,” include the Paso del Norte downtown revitalization plan, the Central Appraisal District and the manner in which the Diablos got a new scoreboard.

Lozano was defeated on a number of issues he raised during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. At one point during the news conference, Rep. Lozano said that he loves Ms. Wilson, but will ask her to resign if he can prove she has done anything illegal.

Rep.Lozano added, “She does not know the history of El Paso, the culture of El Paso…that is her problem.”

Ms. Wilsontells ABC-7 that she “understands Lozano is mad, but she says he’s wrong.”
