‘Big League Dreams’ Nearing Reality For Sportspark

EL PASO, Tx. – County Commissioners take yet another step towards remodeling the County-owned Sportspark.

With a four to one vote Monday, the Commissioners decided to allow the County Judge to sign a lease agreement with Big League Dreams, the California-based company that designs sports parks after major league fields.

The agreement calls for the county to pay Big League Dreams $450,000 and in turn, they will begin planning the renovation to the east side park.

Commissioner Luis Sarinana, whose precinct includes the Sportspark, says he’s relieved this part of the process is complete.

Sarinana tells ABC-7, “This was the hardest moment here…this is whyI was sweating it…I was very nervous…by commissioners approving this 4-1,I think this is an indication that we’re ready to move forward.”

Only Commissioner Dan Haggerty voted against entering the leasing agreement, saying he didn’t feel comfortable giving Big League Dreams nearly half a million dollars.
