Land Office, Game Commission Agree On Sport Access To State Land

SANTA FE (AP) – The state Game Commission and the state Land Office say opportunities for hunters, fishermen and trappers on state trust land have gotten better. They say that’s because of an easement agreement approved today.

The easement allows people with valid licenses to hunt, fish and trap on designated state trust lands during open season. The ageement also increases the annual fees from the Department of Game and Fish to the Land Office. Those fees will go from the current $180,000 to $200,000.

The agreement sets certain conditions on access, including limiting all vehicles to roads.
