A 5.3 Magnitude Earthquake in West Texas was felt in the Borderland

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A 5.3 magnitude earthquake took place Wednesday near Mentone, Texas, according to the U.S. Geological survey.

It happened around 3:27 a.m. Mountain Time (MT)

The borderland flooded our newsroom with phone calls saying they felt the tremor. Many from Santa Teresa, New Mexico to Clint, Texas.

Residents from Mescalero, NM to Artesia, NM and right here in El Paso report different experiences - from beds shaking, to items falling off of shelves, to being jolted awake.

This is a developing story.
