Late Night Crash On El Paso’s Border Highway

EL PASO, TX. – Part of the Border Highway was closed down for most of the pre-dawnmorning after a rollover crash.

It happened just before midnight in the east-bound lanes of the border highway at Yarbrough.The scene of the accident on the Border Highway has been cleared, but remains of police flares can still be found in the eastbound lanes of the Border Highway.

It was shortly before midnight when police say 32-year-old Johnny Bishop, driving a Kia Sportage, slammed into the center divider, lost control and rolled the vehicle over, possibly more than once.

Police responded and closed down the lanes andthey remained closed until nearly 5 a.m. Thursday morning while Special Traffic Investigators tried to determine exactly what happened.

They said Bishopwas not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Investigators said speed was not a factor in this accident. He was taken to R.E. Thomason Hospital andlater died from those injuries.
