The Inspector of Hides and Animals is an office created in 1871. This county officer was charged with inspecting certain hides and animals for sale or slaughter. Only some counties had an elected Inspector of Hides and Animals and by the 1990s this office was virtually non-existant through the state. By actions of the Texas Legislature in 2003 and 2006 the office was effectively abolished.

Proposition 10 aims to remove references to this office that still exist in the Texas Constitution.

Why Vote for Prop 10No one holds this office in any Texas county. Functions of this office are performed by other entities. This amendment cleans up out-of-date language in the constitution.

Why Vote Against Prop 10 No significant opposition although the Legislature should also remove all statutory references as well.
