Hospice Director Resigns, Interim Named

EL PASO – Hospice El Paso Director Charles Roark resigned his position Friday afternoon. The Board of Directors has named Pete Duarte as Interim Executive Director to oversee the search for a new permanent replacement as well as day-to-day operations.

“We are proud to have someone of Duarte’s caliber, while we find a new permanent executive director,” said board president Ralph Adame. “[Duarte’s] participation ensures that we will be able to provide the highest quality services to the community while we conduct our search,” Adame added.

Duarte is a former CEO of Thomason Hospital as well as a former Executive Director of the Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe. He signed a 90-day maximum contract with Hospice El Paso, though the board expects to name a permanent replacement before then.

Regarding Charles Roark’s departure, Adame said,”[He] gave decades of service to Hospice El Paso. Hewas instrumental in building Hospice into the success that it is today and puts us in position to move forward as we continue to serve the needs of all El Pasoan’s in their final days.”
