Police Investigate Armed Robbery

LAS CRUCES, NM – Police are investigating an early-morning armed robberyat the Sav-O-Mat store located at 920 El Paseo Rd.

Theywere called to the store at around2 am Wednesday. Officials say officers on thescenewere tolda man allegedly entered the store, displayed a large knife and demanded money.

He then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and a carton of cigarettes, officials add.Witnesses at the scenesaid the man fled the store on foot and headed west, possibly toward Main Street.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 6-feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Investigators say the suspect’s face was covered with a blue bandana.
