Man With Shotgun Wounded After Told To Drop Weapon
CHILDRESS, TX. (AP) – Officials say a 39-year-old resident of this small West Texas town was wounded after he walked into the police department brandishing a shotgun.
Childress officers told Jeff Whitten, 39, to drop the weapon Sunday night and when he didn’t an officer shot him at least once in his left arm.
Whitten was in stable condition and undergoing surgery Monday at a hospital in Amarillo. The Texas Rangers are investigating.
