Letters From EPA To TCEQ And ASARCO
Attached to the left are letters from the Environmental Protection Agency toASARCO’s vice president of environmental affairs and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regarding the renewal of ASARCO’s permits to operate.
The EPAdetermined that ASARCO’s shutdown was permanent rather than temporary, and that the smelter was not ready to operate again since it was not maintained for many years.
