Documents: Injunction Also Targets Victims Of ’08 Nightclub Shooting
EL PASO –Four of the 27 reputed gang members named in a sweeping injunction barring them from associating in large parts of Northeast El Paso were victims of a nighclub shooting last fall.
Eric Stokes, Brian Hairston, Keshia Flanders and Olaniyi Araromi are all members of “the Bloods” gang, according to County Attorney Jos Rodrguez and Police Chief Greg Allen, and according to documents, wereattacked in a gang-related shooting at Graham’s Central Station on Lee Trevino Drive in October 2008.
Two huge sections of Northeast El Paso are now off-limits to more than two dozen reputed gang members — including those listed above — after a state district judge issued a temporary gang injunction Friday morning.
Rodrguez and Allen announced the injunction at Nolan Richardson Park, an area they say has been hard hit by violent gang crime.
Alleged members of “The Bloods” will be barred from publicly associating in an area around Richardson Park bounded roughly by Gateway Boulevard North, Dyer Street and Hondo Pass Road. That area has been infamous for gang violence and known as “The Devil’s Triangle” for years.
A large area around Andress High School is also off limits; It’s bounded by Gateway Boulevard North, McCombs Street, Transmountain Road and Sean Haggerty Drive. District Judge Javier Alvarez granted the temporary injunction Fridaymorning.
The police, county attorney and all 27-reputed gang members are set to appear before the judge on April 1 when Alvarez is expected to make the injunction permanent.
