CBP Officers Seize Nearly Half-Ton Of Marijuana From Tractor-Trailer

EL PASO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized nearly a half-ton of marijuana in a single bust at the Ysleta port of entry, CBP officials said.

The seizure occurred just before noon Wednesday. A total of 9,084 lbs. of maijuana were found hidden in a shipment of autoparts in a 1995 GMC tractor.

An imaging system scan found the drugs in the FAST lane of the bridge, which allows for expedited crossing of commercial cargo shipments.

CBP officers removed 6,640 bundles of marijuana from the trailer. The estimated value of the drugs is $7,267,200.

The driver of the truck had his FAST crossing privileges cancelled. No arrests were made at the time, and the investigation is continuing, officials said.
