Coach Price ‘Disappointed And Disgusted’ By Miners’ Loss

By ABC-7 Sports Director Raul Martinez

EL PASO — UTEP has had a roller coaster season: winning games they’re supposed to lose and losing games they’re supposed to win. Saturday’s game stayed true to the pattern.

“I’m kind of disgusted and disappointed,” said coach Mike Price after the game. “Devastated, I’m not. Disgusted and disappointed, I am.”

The upset coach couldn’t hide his emotions after the 38-33 loss to UAB.

“When haven’t we dropped passes? Every game we drop passes. I’m just as tired of it as you guys are,” he told reporters during his post-game news conference.

Quarterback Trevor Vittatoe had a bad game. He threw two interceptions and cost the team much-needed points.

“It’s all my fault. Can’t make those mistakes… interceptions in the red zone.”

Donald Buckram, who scored 2 touchdowns, wondered why the team hasn’t been able to get in synch. “I feel that we’re a better team than UAB. We prepared really well. We just didn’t come through the challenge when it came time.”

The Miners’ chances of clinching the Conference USA title slipped further away Saturday. They’re 3-5 overall, 2-2 in conference play.

Next, they face Tulane (2-5, 0-4) on the road November 7th.

You can watch the game live from New Orleans on the El Paso-Las Cruces CW Saturday at 1:30pm.

The CW is on digital over-the-air channel 7.2, Time Warner Cable channel 13, and Comcast channel 14.

The El Paso-Las Cruces CW is not provided by DirecTV or Dish Network.
