Houston Tops UTEP 75-65

HOUSTON (AP) – Aubrey Coleman scored 22 points and Kelvin Lewis and Maurice McNeil each added a double-double as Houston defeated UTEP 75-65 Wednesday night.

Lewis finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds and McNeil had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (9-7, 2-1 Conference USA).

Arnett Moultrie led the Miners (10-5, 1-1) with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

UTEP hit three of its first four shots for an early 6-3 advantage, but its lead quickly vanished as the Miners made only 6-of-28 field goals the rest of the half.

Houston, which hit 13-of-28 shots in the first half, held a 37-24 lead at halftime and pushed its advantage to as much as 15 in the second half.

The Miners pulled to within 49-45 with 12:13 to play but couldn’t get any closer.
