Anthony Shooting Victim Dies At University Medical Center

ANTHONY, NM — Investigators with the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office (DASO)say the victim of a shooting died while en route to University Medical Center in El Paso.

Officials say the man was shot at about 1:36 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Tierra Huichol Circle.The alleged shooter is still on the loose.

Perla Gomez, a friend of the victim, told ABC-7 her brother got into an argument with his girlfriend. His girlfriend’s family then arrived at the scene and started firing shots, one of which struck her brother’s friend, Gomez said.

She said her brother’s friend had nothing to do with the argument and was merely an innocent bystander. “Somebody innocent died,”she said.

Officials with DASO have not released the victim’s name, or that of the suspectsin the shooting. Gomez refused to give an ABC-7 crew at the scene the names of her brother and the victim.
