Texas Senate District 29 covers a majority of El Paso County, extending all the way to the state line.
The seat was held by State Senator Eliot Shapleigh since 1997, but he opted not to run for re-election.
The winner of the March 2nd Democratic primary will face Republican Dan Chavez in November.
