Former Juarez Mayor Set To Become Mayor Again

While people in El Paso spent Sunday celebrating the 4th of July, people all over Mexico cast their ballots.

Voters are hoping the end of this campaign season will mark the beginning of change in a country where many have all but given up on the fight for peace. Elections were held in 15 of Mexico’s 31 states.

El Diario de Juarez is reporting that with 90 percent of the votes counted former Juarez mayor Hector Murguia, of the PRI party, will win the seat that will be vacated by current mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz. Murguia reportedly received 49 percent of the vote compared to the 40 percent by the Pan’s Cesar Jauregui
