U.S. Marshals In Boston Nab Las Cruces Man In Child Porn Case

U.S. Marshals arrested a 74-year-old Las Cruces man in Boston Monday on child pornography charges.

David Rounbehler faces seven counts of possessing and distributing child pornography. On April 30, Las Cruces police discovered Rounbehler was trafficking child pornography via the internet.

Officials from the Las Cruces offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service worked with Las Cruces Police in the investigation.

After initiating a search warrant on Rounbehler’s home on June 8, investigators found sexually explicit images and videos on his computers. They also found several photos of children that were taken at his home as well as in his neighborhood and around Las Cruces.

Investigators are not aware of any victims in the Las Cruces area but nevertheless are asking anyone who suspects they or a family member may have been victimized to call the police.

Authorities say sometime after June 8, Rounbehler and his wife put their home in the 4300 block of Del Prado Way on the market. In addition, authorities say the couple sold their vehicle, changed their telephone number, and travelled to Boston.

After hours of surveillance, U.S. Marshals nabbed Rounbehler in Boston. He is being held on a bond of $1 million and is expected to be extradited to Las Cruces.
