Man Wanted In Bank Robbery Turns Himself In

A man wanted for bank robbery has turned himself in to FBI agents.

Ramon Rodriguez was arrested late Monday afternoon Rodriguez. He as wanted in connection with the robbery of a Bank Of America earlier this month.

On July 20, the Bank of America on Montana was robbed shortly after 4 p.m. The subject was referred to as the “DG Bandit” by the FBI because of his choice of sunglasses that he wore during the robbery. This was the city’s twelfth bank robbery of the year.

“We appreciate Clear Channel’s display of this bank robber on their digital billboards throughout the city because we believe it made the difference in the surrender of this robber,” said Special Agent in Charge David Cuthbertson. “Numerous people saw the image on the billboard and contacted us with tips.” The FBI and Clear Channel Outdoors regularly partner to show fugitives and other criminal suspects on digital billboards throughout El Paso.

Rodriguez, who is unemployed, will have his initial appearance before US Magistrate Judge Norbert Garney this afternoon. Rodriguez is charged with one count of bank robbery. This case was worked by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Sheriff’s Department.
